Vortex Dream

I close my eyes,
blackness all around,
my mind drifts away.

Then, unexpectedly,
it comes back again.

I know that I'm still sleeping.
I can tell because by bed
is floating.

Slowly, it begins to fall.
Raging gray wind all around
A tornado has swallowed me whole,
round and round it goes

I crawl to the edge of the bed,
carefully, I look over the side,
darkness below without end.

I have no fear
 this time.
Been on this ride,
times and time again.

Always the same,
down and down I go.
Never do I reach bottom.

This time, I want something different.
This time, I want something new.
I think, scary faces appear,
to my surprise they do,
swirling around and around.
Then I wish them away.

Strange, but I like it here.
I hope I can dream this place again.
