A MACJR Elegy

Futures Lost

There was a Michael A. Crane III
Little Michael never had a chance
He was very small
And couldn't
Breathe

Children's Hospital tried to save him
He clung to life for almost a month
But in the end
An infection stole him away
A piece of me died with him

Not long after
Maybe too soon
My then wife and I tired again

Christy Lynn came on Thanksgiving
To our relief all was well
She was beautiful and could breathe
We were thankful

Six months later she was dead

They called it SIDS
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
Just another name for Crib Death

To me
It may as well be called
Devastation

Died: 15 Jan 1984 in Seattle, King Co., WA.

Christy Lynn Crane
Born: 22 Nov 1984 in Everett, Snohomish Co., WA.
Died: 12 Apr 1985 in Everett, Snohomish Co., WA.

Lisa and I divorced not long after Christy died. To date, I have not remarried nor had any more children. I would like to try again someday, before it's too late. If I do, I hope fate will be more kind next time.
