The Ride
Life is a strange ride. We struggle to learn, to walk, then to run and jump. We learn to see and observe our surroundings and then venture out a little further each day. Always filled with wonder and fear. Fear of the unknown and wonder at all the marvels all around. In the younger years of this journey, that seems to go on and on, we are innocent and must learn many harsh lessons. But, as time goes on, we learn more and more of how to navigate this long weird ride. Many curves and bends. Pitfalls, traps and misfortune in the way. Sometimes, we think it will never end? Perseverance, time and time again. We go on! We learn the lessons and ride on! Often along this ride, things can become lost and gone forever. Things change and times move on. More and more, we experience things that come, and things that go. The road signs are often hard to read. We wander this way, and then that. From here, to there. Sometimes totally lost, other times, befuddled but ready to go on. You never know what will come next? There is no way to know what this ride has in store, or where it will suddenly end? All we can do is live one day as if there will be a next. Sometimes, the ride will end before your prime? Some may even say, "before your time"? But, the journey was lived. Knowledge was learned, and shared. Others will have learned from you. You will have shared what was you. They will carry on with that piece of you. It will get passed along, and then along some more. It will go on! Your essence will ride on.

- In Memory of Doug -Unfortunately, I do not have Doug's vitals right now. As soon as I get them, or as much of them as I can find, I will update this page. Doug was my Mother's significant other back in 1997, and for a few years before that. I had only spent some time with Doug on two occasions before he died but we did get along well. Doug's last ride was as a passenger in a truck that had a drunk driver at the wheel. Their ride ended in a Columbia River slue just outside Longview, Cowlitz Co., WA. |
